Dolce & Gabbana's new flagship store, Dolce & Gabbana Aoyama (5-5-8 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo), opened on September 10th.

This boutique has a unique concept: "transporting Dolce & Gabbana's creative spirit and Sicilian roots to the Far East." It was designed by Gwenael Nicolas, principal of design studio Curiosity.

The store has an area of 550 square meters and is spread over two floors. With no windows on either the first or second floor, the store welcomes customers with a contrast of light and shadow created using the effect of chiaroscuro (light and dark contrast). More than 400 movable projectors mounted on the ceiling constantly switched on and off, illuminating and hiding items in shadow, creating a dazzling image of the Sicilian sunshine.


An opening cocktail event was held on the 9th, and guests dressed in their finest gathered to celebrate. Among the guests were a stellar lineup of models, actresses, and actors, including Kou Shibasaki, Shido Nakamura, Shun Oguri, Hiroki Narimiya, Nanao, Yuka Mannami, Mademoiselle Yulia, Eimi Kuroda, Nanae Ubukata, and Licht, adding a lively touch to the party.
