IMPOSSIBLE opens a pop-up store at FNO. Sakiko Nomura Shooting

Sep 6, 2014

A pop-up store for IMPOSSIBLE, a company promoting analog integral film, will open at VALVEAT 81 (4-21-26 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo) in Tokyo's Aoyama district from September 6th to 28th, the same time as Vogue Fashion's Night Out (FNO). The IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT SPACE in Nakameguro, Tokyo, which exhibited instant film works by photographers such as Nobuyoshi Araki, Daido Moriyama, Yurie Nagashima, Masashi Sanai, NIGO, and Hajime Sawatari, closed this spring. The pop-up store will condense the four and a half years since its December 2010 opening. The venue will be an installation-style retail store supervised by IMPOSSIBLE, showcasing rare items such as limited-edition posters and leaflets from previous exhibitions. Original gift cards featuring floral-themed instant film artwork will also be available for purchase, and floral prints by photographers associated with the Impossible Project Space will be on display. From 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM on September 6th, all visitors will receive a gift of a photograph taken by the photography team using vintage Polaroid equipment. This can also be enjoyed at the "INSTANT LAB" booth, where visitors can develop their favorite photos. Additionally, a special studio called "SAKIKO NOMURA STUDIO," featuring professional portrait photography by internationally acclaimed monochrome photographer Sakiko Nomura, will be set up in the second-floor gallery space. IMPOSSIBLE purchased the Enschede factory in the Netherlands, the last factory producing Polaroid-format instant film, and now produces instant film using a proprietary chemistry formula. The company is working to popularize analog instant film, with its creative head office in Berlin, Germany, a manufacturing plant in the Netherlands, and flagship stores in the UK, New York, and Paris. IMPOSSIBLE TOKYO was founded in 2010 and relocated to Omotesando in 2014.
