Musician Liam Gallagher was born on September 21, 1972, under the name William John Paul Gallagher. He hails from Manchester, England. The youngest of three children, he grew up in fear of his alcoholic father. He was a delinquent enough to be expelled from junior high school for violence, but after seeing the Stone Roses live at age 16, he became interested in music. He was then invited by a schoolmate to join the rock band The Rain as the lead singer in 1991. When the band eventually changed its name to Oasis, his brother Noel Gallagher joined, and the Gallagher brothers became the core of the band. In 1994, their debut single, "Supersonic," reached number 31 on the UK charts. Just five months later, the album "Oasis" reached number one on the UK charts. Their second album, Morning Glory, released in 1995, reached number one in the UK and number four in the US, breaking the record for the fastest-selling album in the UK. Oasis also set historic records for their live shows. Shortly after the release of their second album, their outdoor concert at Earl's Court in London set a Guinness World Record, drawing a total of 40,000 people over two days. Their 1996 concert at Knebworth, outside London, drew 250,000 people over two days, resulting in eight times that number of ticket pre-orders—2 million. However, behind Oasis' success, there was always a scandal. In 1993, Oasis was scheduled to play a gig with The Verve, but they were forced to be deported after a dispute on a ship bound for the Netherlands. The day after the release of their third single, they got into a brawl with a man who invaded the stage, and Liam and Noel were involved in a brawl at a West Coast concert in the US. Also, fueled by media attention, their conflict with the rock band Blur intensified around 1995. Meanwhile, in 1997, their third album, "Be Here Now," once again broke the UK record for fastest-selling album. In 1998, the compilation album of their single B-sides, "Masterplan," reached number two in the UK charts. However, in 1999, original members Paul Bonehead Arthurs and Paul Guigsy McGuigan left the band. Cracks in the relationships within Oasis were beginning to appear that went beyond sibling feuds. Oasis continued to perform despite numerous near-breakup crises, fights between the Gallagher brothers, and repeated live boycotts. Every album, from "Standing on the Shoulder of Giants" in 2000 to "Dig Out Your Soul" in 2008, reached number one in the UK charts. In 2001, they performed in Japan as the main act at the Fuji Rock Festival, drawing a record-breaking crowd. However, in 2009, Noel finally announced his departure from the band, and Oasis was on the brink of disbanding. In response, Liam formed a new band, Beady Eye, in 2010. The following year, they released their debut album, "Different Gear, Still Speeding." Meanwhile, in his private life, he's also known as a fashionista, frequently appearing in fashion magazines both in Japan and abroad. His favorite brands include Clarks, Paul Smith, Levi's, and Adidas. He became famous for buying large quantities of clothes when he visited Japan. In 2009, he founded the brand Pretty Green, and in 2012, he opened his first overseas store in Aoyama, Tokyo. He currently operates five directly managed stores in Japan, in Nagoya, Osaka, Sapporo, and Fukuoka. His brand is highly regarded for its authentic British style, drawing on the history of music and fashion, such as UK rock and mods of the 1960s and 1970s. He married actress Patsy Kensit in 1997, but just one week later he had an affair with Lisa Moorish, with whom he had a daughter, Molly. He eventually divorced Patsy in 2000 and then dated musician Nicole Appleton. They had a son, Gene, and married in 2008, but in 2013 it was discovered he had a secret child with journalist Liza Ghorbani. He and Nicole divorced in 2014.
