Atelier Cologne's "Orange Sanguine" won the Luxury Women's category at the 5th Japan Fragrance Awards.
Inspired by "breakfast on the terrace with the whole family," Orange Sanguine features citrus-fruity notes with the scent of fresh orange. Fresh top notes of Italian blood orange, mandarin, and bitter orange are followed by heart notes of Egyptian jasmine and South African geranium, finishing with Brazilian tonka bean and Indonesian sandalwood.
Established in 2009, Atelier Cologne is a maison specializing in traditional perfumes and colognes. Founders Sylvie Ganter and Christopher Cervasel created a new fragrance category, "Cologne Absolu," which maintains the freshness of eau de cologne while providing the high fragrance concentration of eau de parfum. Currently, the company has directly managed boutiques in Paris and New York, and is present in 20 countries around the world (as of spring 2013).
The Japan Fragrance Association established October 1st as "Perfume Day" in 2010, and the "Japan Fragrance Awards" was also established in that year. Fragrances released between July of the previous year and June of this year are nominated for awards that are highly acclaimed not only for their fragrance but also for the beauty and buzz surrounding their bottles. Awards are given for Fragrance of the Year and Best Bottle Design, divided into women's, men's, and unisex fragrances, as well as for brand positioning.
The 2014 judging panel was held on August 5th. Approximately 40 people from the fragrance industry, media, and retailers evaluated the scents and bottles of the nominated products.
