Parisian chocolatier Jean-Paul Hevin (hereafter referred to as Hevin) has announced its 2014-15 theme and new collection. The new theme is "Sweet Madness (Folie Douce)." He chose the word "madness" to represent Evin's almost mad passion for chocolate. Evin, who flew all the way from his home country of France to attend the new collection launch on the 29th, smiled and said, "Although it's madness, it's a gentle madness that involves the happiness of tasting delicious food and the joy of sharing it, so please enjoy it with peace of mind." According to Evin, his madness also lies in his extraordinary journey to find the finest cocoa beans, with the aim of bringing a "delicious smile" to everyone who eats his chocolate. He also said, "When deciding on a theme for the year, I consider it in light of the current state of affairs and social trends," and explained that one of the reasons for deciding on the new theme was "to express my hope that the coming year will be a year of sweetness and happiness worldwide."
Notable among the new collection are three Noel Buches, created just in time for the Christmas season.
The first is "Buches Maboule," a sphere of chocolate noir filled with vin chaud (mulled wine)-flavored ganache sandwiched between two biscuits flavored with orange confit and ginger. Vin chaud is a wine the French drink to warm themselves during the cold season, but when it's added to chocolate, the alcohol is evaporated by heating, allowing you to fully enjoy the flavor without getting drunk. The phrase "Buches Maboule" apparently has two meanings: "not proper" and "not my ball." For those who understand French, this is a stylish masterpiece that even includes wordplay. The second chocolate is "BucheBeHappy." This chocolate is accented with a jelly made from a cocktail of strawberries, yuzu, and rosé champagne. The third, "Buche Timbree," features a unique design studded with chocolate timbres (stamps). Evan says he wants Noel, topped with several timbres of different flavors, to enjoy a "journey through the origins of cacao." He also explains that the name can be interpreted as both "crazy" and "stamped," and his face is filled with joy as he explains this. It's clear that he has a playful spirit and is always enthusiastic about creating chocolates and services that "everyone can enjoy." The presentation also introduced a limited-edition shopping bag created in anticipation of the Valentine's Day season. One side of the paper bag is designed with boys in mind, and the other with girls in mind, and it is full of attention to detail, such as using lace only on the "female side."
There are also many new products that make perfect Valentine's gifts, such as "Smoking," a rich macaron wrapped in a chocolat noir shell, and the unique bonbon du chocolat "Smoking," which is named after the macaron because it was made to look exactly like it, so why not make the paper bag your own by purchasing a gift?
