The Fresh Market on the basement floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building will offer a wide variety of meats that are rarely found. Available exclusively from September 10th to 16th, the store will offer sautéed pure Meishantong pork (Meishantong) from Tsukahara Farm in Ibaraki Prefecture, served with gravy (1,000 yen per 100g). This rare purebred Meishantong pork, which is not normally available, is marbled, tender, juicy, and delicately flavored. Be careful not to overcook it. From September 17th to 23rd, the store will offer sautéed Nakijin Agu pork from Okinawa Prefecture, served with pork bone gravy (1,800 yen per 100g). Raised using a unique method that involves feeding and playing in mineral-rich soil, Agu pork boasts delicious, finely textured fat. Its flavor is said to resemble that of refined wild boar.
In addition, they offer a service where bone-in sirloin is hand-cut into approximately 3mm slices for sukiyaki after an order is placed, so we recommend taking this opportunity to gather around a sukiyaki pot with the whole family.
They also sell seasonings for delicious meat preparations. "Heigori Shoten Kobe Mustard PREMIUM" (800 yen) is made from three types of mustard seeds grown in Kobe and Kyoto using only organic fertilizer, combined with several spices, and is characterized by its refreshing flavor and tangy accent. Using it with aged meat is said to enhance the dish.
When purchasing, it's also fun to ask the staff about delicious cooking methods for each cut of meat. A slightly different and elaborate dinner is sure to bring big smiles to everyone's faces.
