Royal Asscher Cushion Cut
Developed in 2016 by father-son duo Edward and Mike Asscher, the fifth and sixth generation, the Royal Asscher Cushion Cut was inspired by the "Cullinan IV," the cushion cut set atop the "Granny's Chips" brooch, a British Royal Treasure worn by Queen Elizabeth II.
The two men researched all literature on "Cullinan IV" and refined the old diagram, first the pavilion side and then the crown side. By precisely adjusting the length of the pavilion facets, they were able to maximize the ideal light reflection.
The Royal Asscher Cushion Cut adds 20 facets to the standard 54-faceted cushion cut, adding 8 facets to the crown and 12 facets to the pavilion, resulting in a 74-faceted cut with even greater brilliance. While it has the strong brilliance and square shape characteristic of brilliant cuts, the rounded corners give it a soft and elegant impression.

In 2017, father-son duo Edward Asscher, a fifth-generation owner, and Mike Asscher, a sixth-generation owner, developed the "Royal Asscher Oval Cut," adding 16 facets to the standard 58-facet oval cut—eight on the crown and eight on the pavilion—to create a 74-facet design.
