Burberry will be launching a collection of its signature trench coats this fall under the name of the Heritage Collection.
This collection brings together all of Burberry's trench coat models. Based on the archives, the collection is limited to three colors: honey, stone, and black. Nods back to the past, details like the belt stitching and epaulets are consistent. Three lengths—short, mid-length, and long—are available, along with three silhouettes: slim, modern, and classic. Style names are inspired by British places: "Sandringham" for the tight slim fit, "Kensington/Wiltshire" for the neutral modern fit, and "Westminster" for the relaxed classic fit. The Burberry check lining features an embroidered label with the name of each style and the words "Made in England."
The material is the same as before: cotton gabardine. This water-repellent, breathable, and durable material was developed by Thomas Burberry. Thanks to its excellent cold-weather protection, Burberry trench coats have been favored by many polar explorers, including Norwegian explorer Colonel Roald Amundsen, and are known for being adopted by the British Army and Navy during World War I.
All Burberry trench coats are made by skilled artisans in a factory in Castleford, West Yorkshire, northern England, through 100 processes.
Burberry trench coats have a long history in Japan, and this year marks the 100th anniversary of Maruzen Co., Ltd.'s first import and sales in 1914.
The collection is available at Burberry Omotesando, Burberry Roppongi, Burberry Ginza Marronnier Dori, Burberry Kobe, Sendai Fujisaki Burberry, Mito Keisei Burberry, Chiba Sogo Burberry, Funabashi Seibu Burberry, Shibuya Seibu Burberry, Toyama Yamato Burberry, Nagoya Sakae Mitsukoshi Burberry, Kyoto Daimaru Burberry, Umeda Daimaru Burberry, and Hiroshima Fukuya Hatchobori Burberry. The limited-time Burberry shop at Tokyo Daimaru will be selling the items until October 1st.
