WEAT

1. In addition to the theme of this collection, please tell us what you value in your designs.
The theme of the FW21 collection is "Power Femme." The collection expresses feminine and functional fashion. We have incorporated the finest materials, craftsmanship, and cutting-edge aesthetics into the designs, without leaving aside the challenges of implementing sustainability.
Given the current climate issues, our collection is naturally inspired by modern functionality. For this reason, we believe that a practical yet feminine design makes sense. The incorporation of chains and metal into the designs creates a collection that exudes power.
The triangle is a key element of our designs. The triangle shape perfectly combines functionality and luxury. When we design, the organic shape of the triangle is key to incorporating functionality and quality.
This collection features two key colors: green and neutral, which are warm, organic, and versatile.
Going Green
We incorporate a variety of greens, from sage and avocado to bright apple green, all kinds of plants, fruits, and vegetables.
●A Focus on The Classic Brown Bag
A rich, well-sized brown leather bag is both trendy and timeless. Brown is a timeless color. A classic brown bag pairs perfectly with other colors and forms the base of any wardrobe.
From the beginning, our brand has pursued functional luxury. Our items are unique, with bold shapes, yet functional enough to serve any purpose.
2. What message do you want to convey with your clothes for the post-COVID era?
When COVID-19 hit, we were forced to re-examine many things, including our beliefs and how we operate. As a result, our philosophy of quality over quantity became even stronger. In times like these, we felt that it was best to work with peace of mind using what we have.
Some customers purchase our bags as a form of therapy or as a way to treat themselves. We would be honored if our bags helped them live peaceful lives by meeting or exceeding their expectations and bringing them happiness and satisfaction.
3. Please tell us about sustainability in the fashion industry and your own design process. Please also include any initiatives related to the SDGs.
Since we began designing in 2017, sustainability has always been our goal. We believe in creating bags that are seasonless, timeless, reusable, and long-lasting. For example, we upcycle leather that would otherwise be discarded from meat facilities that meet Animal Welfare Standard A standards and use it in our bags.
We also work with a leather manufacturer that advocates LITE (low environmental impact) in its manufacturing process. Our packaging is made from recycled paper that is biodegradable. Our dust bags are made from recycled PET bottles. For more information on our sustainability efforts, please see https://weat-studio.com/pages/sustainability.
4. What are the characteristics of the Hong Kong market and what do you see as the advantages of launching your brand here?
The Hong Kong market is very dynamic. WEAT was founded in this "high-speed city." There is a clear gap between the tastes of the general public and what fashion lovers want, but we believe the Hong Kong market has the potential to bridge that gap. Our designs have distinct characteristics, such as triangular carabiners and double-quilted heart-shaped bags. We believe there is room for our brand identity to be recognized in the Hong Kong market as well.
5. Please tell us your thoughts on the Japanese market and fashion creativity.
The Japanese market is very unique, and we want to be actively involved. The Japanese fashion market has a unique fashion environment and limitless creativity. There are always new and unconventional things, and we want to be a part of that innovation.
