To commemorate the 140th anniversary of Seiko's founding, Seiko Watch Corporation will release a new Grand Seiko model equipped with a new Spring Drive movement on November 19th. The new model expresses the founder's beliefs and Grand Seiko's evolution through the image of the tree rings. The suggested retail price is 5.5 million yen (tax included), and the watch is limited to 140 pieces worldwide.

Inspired by Seiko founder Kintaro Hattori's belief of "always being one step ahead of the times," Grand Seiko has striven to create the finest wristwatches ever. Since the brand's inception, Grand Seiko has pursued "innovation and evolution" to pursue and realize the essential qualities of a wristwatch, such as accuracy, ease of viewing, and beauty, at a high level.
The founder's creed and the evolution of the brand are reflected in a dial inspired by a large tree that adds one layer of growth ring each year, and the limited edition model commemorating the 140th anniversary of the company's founding was released on July 23rd. It is equipped with the innovative mechanical movement, Caliber 9SA5. Following this, we will be releasing a special limited edition commemorative model equipped with the newly developed Spring Drive movement, Caliber 9RA2, which will also lead the next generation of Grand Seiko, in an 18K pink gold case.
《Product Features》
A fusion of a design that pursues the essence of a wristwatch and an original dial

The design of this model inherits the design grammar established with the 44GS in 1967, while incorporating a Japanese sensibility that finds beauty "between light and shadow." It is guided by a new design grammar that aims to further evolve essential legibility and wearability.
The distortion-free case, achieved through Zaratsu polishing, emits a harmonious shine. The deeply grooved indexes and three-dimensional hour and minute hands, whose strong contrast enhances legibility, provide unparalleled legibility. The case, designed to fit comfortably on the wrist with a low center of gravity, also improves wearability.
The dial, which is based on the motif of the growth rings of a large tree, has a greater difference in height than conventional stamped patterns, and the streamlined wood grain grooves are finished with hundreds of fine lines, resulting in an original and dynamic pattern. The deep dark brown dial creates a beautiful combination with the gorgeous and warm 18K pink gold case.
The indexes are carved out of 18K gold, giving off a delicate and beautiful shine. The SD mark (Special Dial = dial with solid gold indexes) at 6 o'clock speaks to the exclusivity of this model.
New Spring Drive Movement "Caliber 9RA2"

This model is the first to feature Grand Seiko's next-generation Spring Drive movement, "Caliber 9RA2." While this movement offers the same performance as the revolutionary Caliber 9RA5, introduced in 2020, the power reserve indicator is positioned lower on the case back, allowing for a thinner case. The beautiful blued steel indicator hand complements the "Shinshu Frost Finish," which evokes the frost seen in the Shinshu region during the coldest months of the year, revealing a tranquil expression through the case back.
A new movement that not only boasts long power reserve and high precision, but also offers comfort such as a slim design

Dual-Size Barrel
Long Power Reserve
By adopting a "dual-size barrel" with two different sized barrels, one large and one small, a significant increase in power reserve has been achieved, with power reserve of approximately 120 hours (5 days) when fully wound.
High Precision
A newly developed IC with a built-in temperature sensor was used, and after a three-month "aging process," only quartz crystal units with stable performance were selected. This IC and quartz crystal unit were then incorporated into a newly structured "packaged IC." This improved temperature compensation precision has resulted in high precision of ±10 seconds per month.
(From left) Offset Magic Lever, One-Piece Center Bridge
Thinner Design
The Magic Lever, the automatic winding mechanism, is offset from its center position to achieve a thinner design.
Robustness
The gear train is positioned near the center of the movement, and a "one-piece center bridge" supports the multiple axes from above with a single plate, ensuring shock resistance.
High Wearability
By positioning the crown as close to the case back as possible, the center of gravity is lowered, resulting in an even more comfortable fit.
Since its launch in 1960, Grand Seiko has been a brand that has made tireless progress, pursuing and realizing the essential qualities of a watch—accuracy, beauty, and legibility—at a high level, striving to create the finest wristwatches. Since launching globally in 2010, the brand has earned worldwide acclaim for its top-level performance and sophisticated design, which only a rare true manufacturer in the world can achieve.
