Balenciaga's Resort 2016 collection is a new, sensual collection where feminine and masculine elements coexist. Its most distinctive feature is "X-ray," which turns the structure of couture techniques inside out. A lace slip is layered underneath sheer fabrics like organza, creating an X-ray-like structure for the dress's structure and layers.

Couture volume, such as the peplum, symbolizes Balenciaga's signature elegance. The peplum jacket's waist and shoulder lines are deliberately emphasized with a solid structure. Other techniques that create volume, such as wrapping, tying, and knotting, create a subtle elegance.

Styles inspired by corsets and swimwear use soft, airy materials to create exquisite layering of sheer and opaque elements reminiscent of lingerie, combining terry fabrics and cotton jacquard with delicate lace and embroidered silk. Another sensual touch is the glimpse of elegant embroidered lace peeking out from a military-style coat, an item inspired by lingerie and lace.

On feet are the graphic "Mali" bobbin heel shoes, which combine patent leather and crocodile with clear vinyl, and the "Sahara" wrap tie heel, which symbolizes lace decoration and wrapping. The only sneaker is the "Raffia Lace Runner" sneaker, which is inspired by wild raffia palms through the contrast between hand-woven fabric and rubber. Accessories include safety pins and lily of the valley, an important motif for Balenciaga, and are accentuated with pearl and rhinestone charm necklaces, bracelets and earrings.
