A tribute event will be held for Harada Osamu's "Osamu Goods," which was popular in the 80s and 90s.

Aug 17, 2015

"OSAMU GOODS TRIBUTE," an exhibition by illustrator Osamu Harada, creator of Osamu Goods, will be held at Tokyo Culture by Beams in Harajuku, Tokyo, from August 28 to September 16. Osamu Goods were immensely popular among teenagers across Japan in the 1980s and 1990s. The collection features a variety of items, including lunch boxes, mugs, bags, umbrellas, and key rings, featuring humorous characters drawn with simple lines. The event will showcase a selection of rare Osamu Goods from the archives in a retro-designed space reflecting a nostalgia for the good old days of America. Illustrations and other two-dimensional works will also be on display. "Harada Osamu Respect T-shirts" by designers and illustrators who were influenced by or fans of Harada Osamu's work will also be available for purchase. A reception party featuring the artist will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on August 28. From 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on September 13th, there will be a talk session featuring Harada Osamu himself, as well as Hiroshi Ito from "Groovisions" and Shizuo Ishii from "OVERHEAT MUSIC."
