Lexus is accepting entries for the international design competition "LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2016" at LexusDesignAward.com/jp. The submission deadline is October 18th. Established in 2012, the competition targets the next generation of creators from around the world. "Sense-Wear," by Emanuele Corti and Ivan Parati, winners of the inaugural "LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2015" Grand Prix, will be exhibited in Milan and at Lexus-related events in Japan and Russia. Prizewinner Yuzo Atsushi's work, "INSTAMP," has been selected for commercialization. Furthermore, Sebastian Sierra, winner of the "LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2014," has launched his own product brand and held a solo exhibition at Milan Design Week 2015. Past winners have each achieved remarkable success since winning their awards.
Now in its fourth year, the competition has set the theme "Anticipation." Lexus, which has previously improved its products and services by anticipating the needs of people and society, set this theme in anticipation of creators' original interpretations and the next-generation, innovative designs that Lexus seeks.
The 12 winning works will be exhibited at the Lexus venue at Milan Design Week 2016 in Milan, Italy. In addition, four of the 12 winners will each work together with world-class creators to create a prototype. Up to 3 million yen will be provided as support for production costs. Ultimately, the winners will give a presentation about their work at the venue, and after a final judging process, one Grand Prize winner will be selected from the four prototypes.
In addition, until August 28th, Lexus is making a triumphant return to exhibit a portion of the installation "LEXUS - A JOURNEY OF THE SENSES" that was exhibited at Milan Design Week 2015, as well as the winning works of the "LEXUS DESIGN AWARD 2015," at INTERSECT BY LEXUS - TOKYO in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo.
