Fred Perry reissues 80s tennis shoes in all white and leather

Aug 28, 2015

On August 28th, Fred Perry will release "Exhibition," a redesigned version of a classic tennis shoe, from its exclusive "Laurel Wreath Collection."

The shoe's name, "Exhibition," comes from "exhibition matches," informal tennis matches held during the off-season. Exhibition matches, held around the world, are not about competing for victory or defeat, but rather about players showcasing a variety of performances with the goal of "showing off" their tennis game. They are gaining attention for their entertainment value, which differs from regular matches.

These shoes are the first in a series of retro versions of footwear from the past, and are redesigned using cracked leather, based on an all-white tennis shoe released in the 1980s. The high-quality premium leather improves in quality with wear. Two models are available: the "B7497" (17,000 yen), which features an original cup sole and a striking round sharpness that has been repeatedly improved, and the "B7503" (17,000 yen), which features a stitched round toe design. Both models have an embossed laurel mark engraved on both sides.

They will be sold at the Laurel Wreath Shop in Harajuku, Tokyo and Minamisenba, Osaka, as well as at some limited shops and online shops.
