FENDI has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2015-16 advertising campaign, photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. The campaign, titled "Arty Puppets," pays homage to artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp. The images are life-size 3D reproductions of the sculptures and marionettes she created in 1918, and they also served as inspiration for the venue design of the brand's fashion show in February. The artworks are based on the tragicomedy "The Deer King," based on the novel by 18th-century Italian playwright Carlo Gozzi.
Karl Lagerfeld commented on the visuals, "In creating the Fendi Fall/Winter 2015-16 advertising campaign, no one inspired me more than the extraordinary Swiss artist Sophie Taeuber-Arp. Her work is so modern and graphic, just like the Fendi Fall/Winter 2015-16 collection. It is supremely luxurious, yet very contemporary."
The models featured in the campaign are Kendall Jenner and Lily Donaldson, who are depicted in seductive and powerful poses, intertwined with 3D reproductions of Sophie Taeuber-Arp's artwork.
