Many people will be celebrating Christmas this year over a three-day weekend on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th. Reservations for Christmas cakes to add a touch of elegance to special occasions when you gather with family and friends began on October 4th at Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store. This year's theme is "OPEN! ~Christmas Memories~." A total of 57 cakes will be available, including beautifully crafted cakes like art, shortcakes that showcase the individuality of each pastry chef, and cakes with hidden surprises. A chocolate brand that is popular at the store every Valentine's Day season will also be introducing Christmas cakes for the first time. DelRey's lineup includes "Noel DelRey" (limited to 50 pieces, 6,000 yen), a rich chocolate cake with layers of chocolate mousse, crème brûlée, biscuit, and hazelnut mousse. Also making its first appearance is HUGO & VICTOR's "Memorial Shortcake" (100 pieces, 6,000 yen), a simple shortcake made with fragrant financier dough and rich vanilla bean cream, offering a luxurious taste.
Also noteworthy is Mademoiselle C's "Dreams come true cake" (20 pieces, 12,000 yen), a store-exclusive item decorated with a chocolate rainbow and revealing five-colored sponge cakes inside when cut. Not only is it cute to look at, but the surprise is hidden right up until the moment you cut it. Furthermore, PRESTAT's "Berry's Forest" (35 pieces, 7,000 yen) features a chocolate key hidden somewhere in the sponge cake, creating a fun search for the key with family and friends, making it a perfect treat to get into the Christmas spirit.
If you want to add a touch of elegance to your Christmas table, we recommend cakes that look like art pieces, such as Debauve et Gallais & Anniversary's "La Robe de la Reine - The Queen's Dress" (50 pieces, 7,000 yen), which resembles Marie Antoinette's dress with pistachio cream and is topped with a large red rose made of sugar chocolate, or JEAN-PAUL HEVIN's gorgeous "Buche Cancan" (30 pieces, 5,500 yen), which is inspired by the French cancan.
Alcohol-free Christmas cakes that are safe for children to eat will also be available. "Fairy Christmas" (50 pieces, 5,400 yen) from Meiji Memorial Kanomi no Mori features edible decorations, including cute snowmen and reindeers made from strawberries and whipped cream, holly, and snowflakes, making it a decorative cake that's both pleasing to look at and enjoyable to eat. Patisserie Les Annees Folles' "Happy Merry Mille-feuille" (50 pieces, 6,000 yen) has a tart base and pie crust inside, allowing you to enjoy two different crispy textures. The buyer in charge commented, "We've prepared cakes that three generations of the family can enjoy together. Our shortcakes, which are always popular, feature a selection that highlights the individuality of each pastry chef. We hope you enjoy these Christmas cakes, which will be memorable from the time you choose them, while you eat them, and after you've eaten them."
