Beauty select shop Hankyu Fruit Gathering opens for the first time at Ecute Shinagawa, bringing together department store brands and bath and body cosmetics

Jan 16, 2013

On February 6, 2013, the beauty select shop Hankyu Fruit Gathering will open in Ecute Shinagawa at Shinagawa Station in Tokyo. It will offer department store-grade luxury cosmetics, popular bath and body care cosmetics, and other high-end fashion accessories.

This is the first time in Japan that department store brands and bath and body care brands will be combined on this scale. Customers can easily touch up their makeup using testers, and choose from expert counseling across brands. The store's name, derived from "Fruit-Gathering," a collection of poems by Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore, the first Asian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, conveys the message that the store offers small daily luxuries, items and styles for a moment of relaxation, and the hope of leading a more fulfilling life.

The store's primary target audience is working women in their 20s and 30s with a sophisticated sense of fashion. The store is expected to attract women who are interested in department store brand cosmetics and shop at commercial facilities around stations, women who prefer self-selection and want to freely search for cosmetics that suit them regardless of brand, and busy women who want to do quick shopping on their way to work. The first year sales target is 400 million yen, and starting with this first store, the company plans to open 20 to 30 stores mainly in commercial facilities around stations over the next five years.
