Beautiful People held their 17 Spring/Summer collection show at Shibuya Hikarie on October 20th. The theme was "Do it Ourselves." The show kicked off with a dress reimagining the brand's iconic trench coat. The collection featured a color palette of white, beige, and navy, with shape-memory, wrinkled materials made from polyethylene and washi paper creating a natural mood. The designers created a natural, wearable feel, reflecting their desire to create clothes that the wearer could customize to their own taste. Lemon yellow, lace, feather-like knitwear, and lemon yellow added gentle, elegant accents. Pants were tailored in a straight silhouette, paired with oversized jackets for a boyish look. Meanwhile, skirts, such as knee-length flared skirts and camisole dresses, offered a nostalgic yet gentle, feminine look. The fresh styling, incorporating traditional elements like cardigans and madras checks, exudes a playfulness that's sure to inspire you to copy them.
Pay attention to the accessories, too. Unique and adorable items like a teddy bear wallet bag dressed up in a rider's jacket, a vinyl tote bag, fur sandals with bear claws, and backstrap shoes with transparent heels add a touch of edgy flair to the looks, characteristic of Beautiful People.
For the finale, designer Kumakiri made a surprise appearance wearing a bear costume. After the show, the design team performed with a band. This was Beautiful People's last show in Tokyo. From next season, they will move their collection presentation venue to Paris, expanding their activities to a global stage.
