The Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series Fukuoka, a qualifying tournament for the America's Cup, the world's most prestigious international yacht race, will be held from November 18th to 20th. This will be the first time the race has been held in Asia.
The America's Cup is an international yacht race that has been running since 1851. Louis Vuitton became a sponsor at the 25th race held in 1983, and from that same year it became known as the Louis Vuitton Cup.
Louis Vuitton has continued to support the event since then, and will further strengthen its ties with the America's Cup World Series, supporting the America's Cup Qualifiers, Challenger Playoffs, and the America's Cup as a partner. Prior to the event, the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series (LVACWS), a qualifying tournament for six boats, will be held around the world, with the Fukuoka event (practice race on the 18th, main race on the 19th and 20th) marking the final round.
To coincide with the event, the façade of the Louis Vuitton Fukuoka store will be decorated in America's Cup style. Additionally, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM each day from November 12th to 16th, the winning trophy will be displayed in a special Louis Vuitton case, crafted by three artisans in the Asnières atelier on the outskirts of Paris over a 400-hour period. The races on the 19th and 20th will be broadcast on television.
Louis Vuitton has previously produced trophy cases for historic sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup and Rugby World Cup.
