Johnny Flynn, the actor and musician who plays David Bowie in this film, spoke about the appeal of the script.

In 1971, 24-year-old David Bowie released "The Man Who Sold the World," traveling from the UK to the US and embarking on his first national promotional tour with Mercury Records publicist Ron Oberman. However, on this journey, he discovered he was completely unknown and that the times had not yet caught up with him. America inspired him, with his encounters with the Velvet Underground, Andy Warhol, and the Factory. He broke out of his shell and took the first steps towards establishing himself as one of the world's leading cultural icons.

■Johnny Flynn's Comment
Johnny Flynn, the actor and musician who plays David Bowie in this film, spoke about the appeal of the script.
As a musician, actor, and storyteller, I was intrigued by the early days of someone who would later become an icon of his era. Where was this man who influenced so many, and what was he doing just before he made it big? What's interesting about this script is that it focuses on the few months he spent in the United States. It was a very important period for him. There, he would gather the building blocks for Ziggy Stardust, ultimately leading to his breakthrough as an artist.
