The 86th PITTI IMMAGINE UOMO, the world's largest men's fashion festival, will be held in Florence, Italy from June 17th to 20th.
This year, 1,030 brands will be showcasing their new collections in 12 sections, a larger number of exhibitors than last time. Of these, 377 brands, accounting for 36.6% of the total, are from overseas.
The venue design, based on the theme of "Ping Pong: The Ultimately Simple Sport!", was created by Oliviero Baldini in collaboration with the Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The main event, the guest brand show, was chosen by Z Zegna, a brand under the Ermenegildo Zegna group. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Florence-based Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana, a multi-disciplinary organization, a special program called "FIRENZE HOMETOWN OF FASHION" has been organized. The "BORN IN FLORENCE" program features five world-famous Florentine brands: Roberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo, Gucci, Emilio Pucci, and Ermanno Scervino. Each brand will host a special event dedicated to the city of Florence. A photo exhibition dedicated to the five brands will also be held, produced by Vogue Italia. Other events include an exhibition at Forte Belvedere focusing on the golden age of Italian automotive design in the 1950s and 1960s, and an exhibition linking the birth and founding of Made in Italy fashion. Also, on the evening of June 16th, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will perform an orchestral concert with the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra. A costume exhibition by Sartoria Tirelli will also be held at the same venue. Furthermore, Pitti Italics, a project organized by the Pitti Discovery Foundation to support young Italian-based designers who are garnering global attention, will feature a fashion show by "au jour le jour" and a performance-style event by Marcelo Burlon County of Milan, known for its graphic T-shirts. Pitti Italics has previously supported brands such as MSGM and Stella Jean.
To coincide with Pitti, Isetan Shinjuku Main Store will be running the "Isetan-Tokyo Project" for the third time, which will feature a special promotional event where customers can pre-order products from carefully selected brands from Pitti exhibitors.
