Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten x "Doraemon" releases 30 limited edition "Nobita's Glasses" and "Time Cloth"

Aug 6, 2016

Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten, the company's own brand bearing the company name, is holding a special exhibition titled "Let's Create the Future: 1716 → 2016 → 2116" in collaboration with Fujiko F. Fujio's manga "Doraemon" from August 17th to 30th.

For this project, limited-edition collaboration items will be produced with the hope that "Japanese craftsmen will be creating Doraemon's secret gadgets in the 22nd century future depicted in 'Doraemon'." During the exhibition, a variety of valuable goods will be sold at Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten brand stores nationwide and the official online shop.

The "Time Cloth for Lunchboxes" (3,000 yen), a Japanese-style design of Doraemon's secret gadget, the "Time Cloth," has a pocket for ice packs, making it perfect for wrapping lunchboxes. The "Doraemon Sign" (450 yen) features a cute ceramic Doraemon figurine with five of Doraemon's famous quotes randomly printed inside. Also available is "Shizuka-chan's Bath Salts" (5 pieces for 1,400 yen), which contain milk-derived ingredients and are inspired by Shizuka-chan's long-awaited milk bath. Other popular Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten items, including plastic bottle covers (1,700 yen), gathered pouches (1,800 yen), clasp pouches (3,200 yen), and magnetic bookmarks (800 yen), feature Doraemon's back embroidered on them. Doraemon is also embroidered on soft baby toys (2,500 yen), squishy toys (2,000 yen), baby bibs in different colors (1,800 yen), and a mosquito net blanket (3,800 yen), which is just the right size to swaddle a baby. In addition to the "Doraemon Dishcloth" (¥500), which has sold a total of approximately 70,000 units since its release in 2014, Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten will also be releasing a long mosquito net towel (¥1,200) made from the same fabric. Also available in select stores will be "Nobita's Glasses" (¥45,000), which feature the "nawate" (rope-finishing) technique for the ears of glasses, a technique commonly used in 1970 when "Doraemon" first began serialization. These glasses, crafted using the wisdom and techniques of the region based on documents remaining in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, Japan's largest eyewear production area, are one of only 30 pairs in the world. Available at the Tokyo Main Store, Omotesando Store, Sapporo Stellar Place Store, S-Pal Sendai Store, Tokyo Midtown Store (Nakagawa Masashichi Shopping Arcade), Lumine Shinjuku Store, LACHIC Store, LaQue Shijo Karasuma Store, Lucua Store, and Amu Plaza Hakata Store.
