Ginza Mitsukoshi to Strengthen its Women's Dress Lineup with JAPAN Brands: Mackintosh, Lanvin, Leilian, and More

Oct 2, 2015

Ginza Contemporary, the women's clothing floor on the M5 floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi, reopened after a remodel on September 30th. Based on the concept of "wearing clothes beautifully and elegantly," the floor targets customers who work in Ginza or live in the surrounding area, making Ginza their everyday home. That's why the floor offers a contemporary yet high-quality selection of daily wear tailored to the lifestyles of this customer base, drastically transforming the traditional merchandising. The M5 floor is broadly divided into categories such as "Daily Rich" and "Dress Up." The Daily Rich section features Theory Luxe and Mackintosh London, along with Mixury, an independently curated shop. The merchandising focuses on sophisticated beauty and captivating designs. Theory Luxe offers a black dress exclusive to Ginza Mitsukoshi, part of the Only MI collection. Although it's all black, the floral paisley pattern adds a touch of glamour.

Mackintosh London will promote its brand by leveraging its wide selection of accessories and introducing items like its iconic rubberized coat. Other brands in the Daily Rich section include ADORE, BEIGE, Precious-Mix, Filo di Seta, and Sybilla.

The dress-up category on the same floor will specialize in "contemporary style" merchandising centered on dresses, such as semi-formal and businesswomen's dinners, clearly differentiating itself from the rest.

LEILIAN will focus on its "Urban Line," which offers contemporary, high-quality merchandising, centered on its specialty of high-quality manufacturing. It will strengthen its efforts to expand the variety of dress-up styles. LANVIN COLLECTION is also quite different from other stores of the brand, selecting from lines that more faithfully reflect the essence of the collection presented in Paris. The selection is centered around dressy items, and the brand is enhanced by exclusive Ginza Mitsukoshi items such as a black dress with a frill accent. TAE ASHIDA offers elegant and modern styles that appeal to modern women. In keeping with Ginza's unique style, the brand offers a wide range of styles, from formal to casual, with a focus on working women. Furthermore, EPOCA at Ginza Mitsukoshi is said to be more popular than other stores for skirts and dresses with accents such as irregular hems and pleats. Therefore, the store is planning to offer a knit dress incorporating these details, which are popular in the Ginza area, exclusively at the store ahead of its grand opening on October 14th.

For the newly rich living in the bay area, Ginza is becoming a place to visit with the whole family by bicycle. It is no longer a special occasion. The M5th floor will likely take on the role of a place where this customer demographic can purchase daily items.
