To cement itself as an icon of a generation, a truly updated style is key. By incorporating the innovative, graphic design signature of the Maison's High Watch collection into the Tambour Curve GMT Flying Tourbillon, Louis Vuitton promises that this masterful travel complication will break new ground.

A design inspired by the essence of travel

The Tambour Curve GMT Flying Tourbillon, newly added to the lineup of timepieces created by the Maison's watchmaking atelier, La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, features a case shape that is a continuation of the Tambour Curve Flying Tourbillon Poinçon de Genève, launched in 2020. It is a striking design, garnering critical acclaim for its modern and contemporary design, exemplified by refined luxury. Regarded as one of the Maison's most popular and dynamic designs, this design is a signature of the Maison's high watchmaking, originating from the original Tambour watch, launched in 2002, with its avant-garde curves inspired by airport terminal architecture. The Tambour Curve GMT Flying Tourbillon is a stylish demonstration of how form and function influence each other.

The Innovative Tambour

At the heart of this timepiece is the 46mm case, crafted from shot-blasted grade 5 titanium. Its Möbius strip-inspired shape is not a perfect circle. Its slightly elongated oval form, complemented by the convex curvature of the bezel and sapphire crystal, creates a striking effect. Striking from every angle, this innovative case design, like a Möbius strip, symbolizes an endless journey, inviting the Tambour Curve GMT Flying Tourbillon to embark on a fantastical journey.

This practical and intuitive watch redefines traditional watchmaking. Designed to display a second time zone above the dial, it features two pushers on the right side. Operating these two pushers allows the dedicated GMT indicator, housed within an open counter at 3 o'clock, to be easily moved forward or backward. These pushers are positioned in the same way as those found on chronographs, deliberately evoking the visual illusion of the popular chronograph. Furthermore, they also highlight the symmetry of the Tambour Curve GMT Flying Tourbillon's case, allowing viewers to enjoy its perfect, soft proportions.

Designed to be a faithful travel companion wherever the world takes you, whatever your adventure, the Tambour Curve GMT Flying Tourbillon is available in three versions: all titanium, titanium with 18K pink gold lugs, pushers, and crown, and titanium with Gibeon meteorite dial and diamond-set indexes.

For the ultimate in refinement, the shot-blasted lugs, which screw into the case, are adorned with delicate polished metal filigree at the joints. These attention to detail not only enhance the architectural structure of the design, but also emphasize the dynamics and aesthetic unity of this timepiece, which has already become an icon of watchmaking design.

Searching for the Hidden "V"

The true face of the Tambour Curve GMT Flying Tourbillon – its dial – has been given a refined and contemporary look, down to the finest details. Rather than being fully skeletonized, the dial is openworked, composed of two layers, creating a powerful yet minimalist design that guides the reader through the time. The "V" on the flying tourbillon carriage at 9 o'clock is the logo devised by the third generation head of the family, Gaston-Louis Vuitton, and serves as an accent on the dial. A "V" is also hidden between the counters. Through the inlay and undulating effects of the delicate sunray-polished gray, pink gold, or meteorite dial, the "V" creates the silhouette of an hourglass—a historic instrument used to measure time that has often served as a symbol of the passing of time.

But of all the elements visible beneath the sapphire crystal, the most astonishing are the hour markers. Seemingly suspended from a flange that follows the outline of the case, they are individually pre-machined to fit the curve of the dial when fastened. The luminous material is not simply a coating, but blocks of Super-LumiNova®. This allows the watch to glow powerfully and for a long time, even in the dark, enhancing its cutting-edge functionality. In the titanium and meteorite version, baguette-cut diamonds set into each index act as the luminous material. Diamonds mined from the depths of the Earth and polished meteorite discs from outer space create a beautiful harmony.

Committed to creating the finest products, La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton has taken great care with the final process of this timepiece. The pusher glides smoothly under finger pressure, moving a transparent disc bearing the LV logo back and forth to display the time in a second time zone at 3 o'clock. The crown is fitted with a rubber element to ensure a good grip when setting the time and winding the caliber.

Practicality and Pleasure

Since its founding, La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton has crafted original, exclusive, daring and unparalleled complication watches. The natural outgrowth of this philosophy was the development of a unique self-winding mechanical movement: Caliber LV82.

As befits a movement in Louis Vuitton's high watchmaking, the flying tourbillon cage regulating this caliber's movement is shaped like the "V" invented by Gaston-Louis Vuitton. The balance, beating at 4 Hz, ensures the timepiece functions with the utmost precision. Another distinctive feature is the highly practical GMT function, embodying a sophisticated and exceptional mechanism befitting the Maison's DNA: the essence of travel.

The beating heart of this movement, measuring 35 mm in diameter (15 lignes/line) and 5.7 mm thick, is perfectly matched to the case. A fusion of tradition and modernity, the movement's 18K pink gold oscillating weight, which winds the mainspring and guarantees a 65-hour power reserve, is visible through the skeleton case back, along with its contemporary black finish, which combines circular satin-brushing and shot-blasting.
