Today, we're featuring Tachibana's karinto, recommended by fashion journalist Yuri Yokoi, who also writes for FASHION HEADLINE. Tachibana is located in Tokyo's Ginza 8-chome. "Opening the sliding door, you'll find a cozy interior that's cramped for just two or three people. To the left, there are only two types of karinto lined up. This really shows the owner's commitment and pride," says Yokoi.
Tachibana only sells two types of karinto: the thin "Saeda" and the thick "Koro." "You can tell they're going to be delicious even before you try them!" says Yokoi. The outside is glossy and generously coated in candy. While it retains the appearance of the popular karinto, it has a surprisingly light and refined texture when you put it in your mouth.
If you are giving just one type, it comes in a vermilion round tin, while a square tin is also available for giving a set of two types. The wrapping is an elegant pale yellow paper with a design of the tachibana flower, the store's name. The simplicity of the store, the taste, and the packaging all evoke the elegance and style of Ginza, all of which are expressed through "Tachibana-made."
