Hender Scheme has unveiled its SS17 "Y" collection. Based on the concept of free, gender-transcending design, Hender Scheme has continued to create products that strike a balance between fashion and craft by designing not only the items themselves but also the process and progression of their creations. The SS17 collection includes side-gore boots with subtle shadows and depth created by varying the leather upper finish and materials, shoes that make extensive use of shoelace holes as a design element, slip-ons with embroidered leather mesh, and shoes that combine dress shoes and sneakers. The brand's first-ever apparel, the "not riders jacket," is also available. It's crafted from seven different materials, including cow, deer, and horse leather. Other items include a leather diffuser inspired by the scent of leather and a backpack with removable pockets, inspired by the designer's own travel experiences.
In addition, each season they release one item designed to depict the "process by which things are made," and this time, the 15th model in the Homage line features a pair of tanned leather shoes that pays homage to a certain sneaker. By producing sneakers, which are industrial products, by hand at Hender Scheme, the design explores the "different appearances that are born."
