Dec 15, 2016

LOEWE has opened its first Spanish flagship store, Casa Loewe Madrid, a new store concept designed by Creative Director Jonathan Anderson and the largest in the world. Located in the heart of the Spanish capital's Salamanca district, close to the brand's headquarters, the 1,000-square-meter store features separate floors for men's, women's, and accessories, as well as exotic leather items and a made-to-order section. The interior is decked out in warm, neutral materials, including cream-colored Spanish marble and wood, and carpets by internationally renowned rug weaver Jason Collingwood. The store also features original British antiques and pieces curated by Anderson, who curated the store for the brand, including works by Edmund de Waal, Richard Smith, and Gloria Garcia Lorca. The most famous of these is Sir Howard Hodgkin's hand-painted aquatint prints of the past, present and future, which are displayed across an entire wall. The store also features a flower shop inspired by the life and work of Constance Spry (1886-1960), a British educator, florist and author.
