Artist Kataoka Meriyasu's solo exhibition "Motor Show" will be held at Gallery VOILLD in Nakameguro, Tokyo, from May 13th to 29th.
Kataoka Meriyasu is an artist who continues to create a wide range of works, mainly stuffed animals, but also mechanical moving toys, light-up toys, and small furniture. His works, with their gentle and charming expressions, evoke the joy of childhood play and dreaming, which we may have forgotten as we grow older. He is also the bass vocalist for the currently inactive band Museiran, and since the end of 2014 he has been active as a manga artist, publishing his manga "Kataoka Ohenro."
The exhibition, based on the theme of the title "Motor Show," will feature moving works based on Mini 4WDs, Choro-Q cars, and radio-controlled cars. Approximately 50 pieces will also be on display, including lights, wall hangings, sculptures, and other three-dimensional works. In addition to the exhibited works, limited-edition merchandise such as badges and stickers will be available for purchase at the venue.
