"Marking" is a special exhibition of Japanese and British design. Maiko Kurokawa (Mame), Ryuji Nakamura and others participated.

Dec 25, 2012
The British Council (headquarters: London) and E&Y Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo) will hold a joint Japanese-British design exhibition, "Marking," at Gallery Libby Sellers in London from January 10th to 25th, 2013.

A total of 16 designers, eight from Japan and eight from the UK, will present new works based on the themes of the differences and similarities between Japan and the UK, along with objects they call "fragments" that have influenced them. Curated by E&Y CEO Tsuyoshi Matsuzawa and design writer Max Fraser, the exhibition will introduce current and promising designers from a wide range of genres. Japanese participants include Maiko Kurokawa, designer of mame, and architects Jo Nagasaka and Ryuji Nakamura.

The first exhibition for "Marking" was held at Design Tide Tokyo 2011 at Tokyo Midtown in the fall of 2011. This London exhibition is the latest version, with several exhibits replaced from the one held in Tokyo.

E&Y is a Tokyo-based furniture label that edits, develops, produces and sells furniture and objects. They release new works every year both domestically and internationally, in venues such as Milan, London and Tokyo, and also work with various designers, artists and architects to develop graphics, artist works and original products for projects.
