"Shaun IN SHIBUYA," an art and charity project focusing on the popular animation "Shaun the Sheep," will be held in Tokyo's Shibuya, Omotesando, Harajuku, Ebisu, and Daikanyama areas from May 5th to 22nd.

The event is an art and charity project utilizing "Shaun the Sheep," a classic clay animation produced by the British studio Aardman Animations, the same studio that won an Academy Award for "Wallace & Gromit." Last year, an event titled "Shaun IN THE CITY UK TRAILS" was held in London and Bristol, where a total of 120 colorful Shauns were exhibited throughout the two cities, and a portion of the proceeds from the auction held after the exhibition was donated to children in hospitals in the UK. This is the first time the event will be held in Japan. Thirty large Shaun sculptures will be exhibited in Shibuya Ward. After the exhibition closes, the sculptures will be auctioned off. Proceeds, minus necessary expenses, will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Medical Center and the Shibuya Ward Social Welfare Council. The Shaun sculptures were designed by a total of 29 artists, organizations, and brands, including film director and producer Hideaki Anno, manga artist Moyoco Anno, artist Fantasista Utamaro, nail artist Hana4, Hello Kitty designer Yuko Yamaguchi, illustrator SHOGO SEKINE, designer Ikuto Yamashita, fashion designer Tatsuya Kaigai, and calligrapher Tomomi Kunishige. Additionally, the "Shaun in Shibuya" smartphone app will be released on May 5th. Participants will participate in a mission to find Shaun using a map showing the distance to the large Shaun sculpture. Completing the mission will earn them a medal within the app. The fee is 120 yen including tax, and all profits from the app, excluding necessary expenses, will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Medical Center and the Shibuya Ward Social Welfare Council.
