Model Adriana Lima was born on June 12, 1981, in Salvador, Brazil. At the age of 15, she won the Brazilian competition for Supermodel of the World, and then came in second at the global competition. In 1997, she moved to New York and made her modeling debut in the Anna Sui show. She subsequently modeled for Blumarine and Emanuel Ungaro, and appeared on the cover of the Brazilian edition of Marie Claire, before becoming one of the "Angels" advertising models for the American luxury lingerie brand Victoria's Secret in 2000. She began to attract attention as a "highly paid model" through appearances in Guess advertisements, a cosmetics contract with Maybelline New York, and an endorsement contract with Italia Telecom, and in 2005 she was ranked among Forbes magazine's "World's Highest-Paid Models." Since then, she has become a regular in the magazine's "World's Highest-Paid Models" feature. In 2007, she was also named one of People magazine's "100 Most Beautiful People in the World." In 2009, she married Serbian NBA professional basketball player Marko Jaric, and gave birth to their first child in November of the same year and their second child in September 2012. She made headlines by returning to the Victoria's Secret runway just two months after giving birth. They divorced in May 2014.
