J Brand Japan, a subsidiary of Fast Retailing, will open the first Japanese store for its denim brand, J Brand, on October 9th in the women's clothing department on the fourth floor of the Hankyu Umeda Main Store.
In addition to jeans and cargo pants, the store will also sell casual wear, which the brand began selling last year. The store will have an area of approximately 21.5m2. This new store will mark the start of full-scale expansion into Japan, with the aim of expanding the business.
J Brand, headquartered in Los Angeles, was launched in 2005 by current CEO Jeff Rudes at the Melrose Jeans Bar inside Ron Herman. In addition to premium denim made from a unique denim material, the brand launched a casual wear collection to go with the denim last spring. J Brand is also a driving force behind the skinny jeans boom, and is a favorite of celebrities such as Princess Catherine, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Kate Moss, and Mick Jagger. J Brand's jeans are sold in over 2,000 famous department stores and select shops in over 20 countries around the world. J Brand Japan, which handles the retail and wholesale of J Brand products and stores in Japan, was established on the 4th of this month.
