Mie Terrace, a Mie Prefecture antenna shop, will open in Nihonbashi on September 28th. The interior of Mie Terrace, featuring traditional Mie crafts, includes a façade and fixtures made with Owase cypress, a lattice ceiling inspired by Ise Shrine, Ise stencil-patterned lighting, and tiles from Yokkaichi Banko ware and Iga ware. The shop, restaurant, and event space offer a wide selection of Mie delicacies, including Akafuku mochi (rice cakes) from Akafuku, a long-established store located near Ise Shrine and a renowned tourist destination; Matsusaka beef and dried fish; craft beers like Kumano Koshu Beer and Iga-ryu Ninja Beer; and over 50 varieties of local sake from Mie breweries. The shop also features a corner selling Ise udon, a 400-year-old staple of Ise pilgrimages that has recently seen a rise in popularity. In addition, the store will feature practical and stylish items, such as Yokkaichi Banko ware, which retains heat and is highly fire-resistant, and Ginpo Touki's ceramic pot "BLISSIO," which allows for waterless cooking. Furthermore, "4th Market," another Banko ware brand, offers teapots and mugs that are neither too cute nor too simple, sure to add a touch of joy to your daily life. The attached restaurant is based on the concept of a "mitsukuriya" (a place where offerings are prepared for the sacred offerings of Ise Shrine). It offers Italian-style cuisine featuring freshly harvested, seasonal ingredients from throughout Mie. The menu is overseen by Chef Shinichi Sato of Minami-Aoyama's "Il Desiderio," who trained at restaurants including "Antica Osteria del Ponte," the second restaurant in Italy to receive a three-star rating. The event space will feature talk shows and exhibitions offering insights into Mie's culture and traditions.
