On the 26th, Mercedes-Benz announced a collaboration project with the techno-pop group Perfume. As part of the "Next Stage with YOU" campaign for the newly announced "New A-Class," Mercedes-Benz produced a commercial in collaboration with Perfume. The commercial began airing on TV and a special website on the 26th. The three members of Perfume, featured in the commercial, are 3D animated by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who worked on the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" series, and perform to the song "Next Stage with YOU" written by Yasutaka Nakata. The choreography was created by MIKIKO, a director and choreographer who has been friends with Perfume since their days with Actors. An iOS app was also announced to coincide with the campaign. Created by Rhizomatiks, led by Daito Manabe, the app uses image analysis technology to transform photos users take into original stages, allowing them to create their own personalized commercials. On the original stage, Perfume members, reimagined as 3D animated characters, performed over 640,000 dance moves. A press conference was held in Tokyo on the same day, where Perfume members appeared in costumes designed by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto inspired by the animation. The three members appeared in the "New A-Class." A-chan commented on her impression of the new A-Class, "It was incredibly comfortable to ride! We want to drive one too. First, we'll get our driver's license," drawing laughter from the audience. She then commented on the TV commercial, "I was deeply moved watching it. As a fan myself, I was so happy and honored that Sadamoto designed our 3D animation and today's costumes." Regarding the song, she said, "The lyrics can be interpreted in many ways, perhaps referring to driving as a motif or to our 'next stage.' The melody is fast-paced and exciting." The members also immediately tried out the app. After watching the commercial, the three members expressed their admiration for Rhizomatiks' cutting-edge technology, saying, "It's so fun to see the photos you take become a stage and dance all the time. There are so many different dance styles, you can enjoy it over and over again."
Perfume celebrated their 10th anniversary since their major label debut in 2015, and are constantly striving to reach new heights, with their first documentary film being released on October 31st. This project was born from the collaboration between Perfume and Mercedes-Benz, which is constantly evolving from vehicle performance to performance. The collaboration presentation, which incorporated each member's thoughts into the concept "Next Stage with You," was a perfect fit.
