agnes b.'s new project, "agnes loves japon," will be held from October 22nd to 28th at The Stage on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. After meeting local artists at the Kanazawa Utatsuyama Craft Studio during her 2013 visit, agnes aimed to showcase each artist's unique worldview. This time, a dozen artists, selected based on her sensibility and emotion, have created "agnes love japon" pieces inspired by agnes b.'s worldview. Furthermore, after collaborating with Isetan Mitsukoshi's "Isetan Japan Senses" initiative, a creative "upcreation" project has been proposed, taking "recycling" and "upcycling" one step further. Drawing on the uniquely Japanese culture of "re-dyeing," limited-edition products will be available, featuring overdyed fabrics made from recycled fabrics using natural plant dyes. The space will be designed by Inga Sempe, an internationally active French designer specializing in furniture, lighting, objects, and textiles. Customers will receive an original hanger to use in the space design on a first-come, first-served basis.
The agnès b. Aoyama store will also be participating in TOKYO DESIGNERS WEEK 2014 from October 25th to November 3rd. A talk show entitled "Is Crafts Art?" will be held from 3pm on the 25th, featuring CASA BRUTUS editor-in-chief Matsubara Toru, ceramic artists Yamamoto Yumi and Cong Wenting, and glass artist Kato Yuya. Visitors will also receive an original hanger on a first-come, first-served basis.
