Actress Susan Hayward was born June 30, 1917, in New York, USA. She passed away March 14, 1975.
After graduating from high school, she moved to Hollywood with dreams of becoming an actress. She was a finalist for the audition for "Gone with the Wind," but failed to land the role. After making her debut in "Beau Geste" in 1939, she appeared in numerous films. However, during this period, her roles were often limited to supporting male stars.
She finally began to gain attention with "A Fool's Heart" (1949), an adaptation of J.D. Salinger's novel, and was nominated for an Academy Award for both that film and "The Day I Cry" (1955), a film about a musical star's life. She then won the coveted Academy Award for Best Actress for "I Don't Want to Die" (1958), a film adaptation of the memoirs of a real-life female death row inmate. In his personal life, he married actor Jess Barker in 1944 and gave birth to twins, but divorced in 1953. He subsequently faced various difficulties, including a suicide attempt and the death of his second wife from illness. In 1971, he showed signs of a brain tumor and was hospitalized. He died on March 14, 1975.
