A talk show on the theme of "fashion and beauty" was held at Isetan Shinjuku on March 22nd, featuring beauty journalist Mayumi Kurata, Ayako Ota, editor-in-chief of the women's magazine "Croissant Premium" (Magazine House), and Seiko Ishii, president of FINGGY Co., Ltd. The event was held to commemorate the limited-time release of "THE FINGGY," a lotion that is being sold at Isetan Shinjuku in advance. The May issue of the women's magazine "Croissant Premium" features Kurata experiencing Isetan Shinjuku's Styling Pickup Service, which suggests coordinating outfits across brands. Kurata also shared the details of this service in a talk aimed at women over 40 about how to "bring out a new version of yourself" from both the fashion and beauty perspectives.
Regarding fashion, Kurata said, "I always end up buying similar clothes, and no matter how old I get, I tend to get stuck in a rut, sticking to the trends from when I first started dressing up. But after using the Styling Pickup Service, I was able to make new discoveries, like, 'Maybe shorts are okay even in my 50s.'"
Ota, who used the service before planning a magazine project, also said, "I thought I had a free perspective on fashion because of my job, but I had the experience of finding that things I thought were impossible actually looked good on me. We all have times when our preconceived notions block our potential, both in terms of fashion and beauty." In response, Kurata emphasized the importance of letting go of preconceived notions about beauty, saying, "The vast majority of women over 40 are reluctant to change their skincare routines, especially when it comes to foundation and foundation. As cosmetics evolve with the times, first try them on your face, not the back of your hand, at the cosmetics counter. It's not that seeing is believing, but rather that seeing is believing." Ishii also explained The Fingy product, saying, "My father, a cosmetic dermatologist, used to say, 'A smile is the best beauty serum.' The words 'You look beautiful,' like a miracle cure. Feeling comfortable has the greatest positive effect on your skin." Kurata commented, "Skincare is the act of loving yourself." The Fingy pop-up shop will be open until March 26th on the 4th floor of the Isetan Shinjuku store.
