CAMPER, a shoe and bag brand from Mallorca, Spain, has collaborated for the third time with textile designer Masaru Suzuki, whose vibrant colors and playful worldview continue to captivate people. For the Spring/Summer 2021 season, the brand will launch its long-awaited shoe collection, TWINS by MASARU SUZUKI. Additionally, the brand will offer a fascinating collection of new bags and accessories.

Masaru Suzuki is a textile designer based in Japan. He runs his own fabric brand, "OTTAIPNU," and captivates people with his unique worldview of vibrant colors and bold compositions.

In addition to his own brand, he has also released works through projects with a variety of domestic and international brands and companies, including Marimekko and UNIQLO. He is active both in Japan and abroad, having won the Milan Design Award 2016 "BEST ENGAGEMENT by IED" at Milan Design Week in 2016, and is also actively engaged in teaching as a professor of textile design at the Department of Design, Faculty of Art and Design, Tokyo Zokei University.
TWINS ARTIST MASARU SUZUKI
A happy world view with bouncy, almost dynamic colors and shapes, and humorous animals lingering leisurely within shoes.
This season's collaborator, Masaru Suzuki, has breathed new life into the brand's iconic "RUNNER" sneaker, creating the "TWINS" shoes, which speak to you in a lively manner through the men's, women's and children's shoes.

About TWINS ARTIST
"TWINS ARTIST" is a highly creative project launched in 1992 that highlights artists from around the world who have a connection with Camper in the art, design and fashion categories. By fusing the individuality of the artists with Camper's DNA to create unconventional designs, the project takes shoes to a new level.

About TWINS
The TWINS series, launched in 1988, is an iconic series in which Camper continues to challenge itself with innovative designs based on the concept that "each right and left foot has its own unique personality, but together they form a perfect pair." "Twins Artist" is a special collaboration that any designer or artist would want to try.
This time, I didn't design the shoes themselves, but rather the "colors and patterns" that adorn the Runner family, which was released in 1982 and continues to evolve today. If you ask whether shoes need colors and patterns, perhaps they're not necessary. I focus on these unnecessary things because I believe colors and patterns can make people feel so happy.
I believe shoes have a dream that's different from other things. If they have beautiful colors and patterns, it can brighten your mood. I hope everyone will look forward to wearing these shoes when they go out.

HOP STEP LIFE

The unique print, which looks as if mysterious creatures have gathered around the bag in a cramped space, is an overflowing display of beautiful colours achieved through careful and delicate hand screen printing by Japanese artisans and Masaru Suzuki's speciality "reprint" technique, which layers colours. In addition to the polka dot interior, the pouch is also printed all over, making this a bag that is overflowing with fun. 。

When designing patterns for items such as bags or shoes, of course each item has a shape, so I always think about how to match the pattern to that shape.
This time, to create a sense of unity between the item and the pattern, I decided on the design by laying out abstract shapes to match the form of the pattern. So although the pattern is not a specific motif like a bird or a cat, when I added eyes it took on the appearance of a mysterious creature, and somehow it looked even more lively. It looked as if it was happy and about to jump around at any moment. When you go out with this bag, be sure to walk and jump with joy.
Hop, Step, Life!

ANIMAL BISCUIT

This roughly tailored tote bag is made primarily from original jacquard fabric, meticulously woven in Kiryu, one of Japan's leading fabric producing areas. It features colorful leather handles as an accent.
The jacquard fabric's warp threads are made from environmentally friendly recycled polyester, and the weft threads are woven with a thick, double-ply cotton thread, resulting in a thick, elegant finish. The coarse weave of the animal patterns gives the bag a unique look.

It has a flat form with no gusset, but its large size ensures ample storage while allowing it to be easily carried close to your body.

The interior features a zippered hanging pocket for separating valuables and small items.

TOTE
Blue: B2635-051
Hot Pink: B2635-065
Price: 20,000 yen (22,000 yen)
Size: W44/H45/D2.5cm
Material: Body - 33% recycled polyester, 64% cotton, 3% polyester; Handle - cowhide leather
Release date: Early March

This bag is made from woven fabric using a technique called jacquard. Unlike prints, patterns cannot be freely expressed with woven fabric. So the animal shapes that came out of the prototypes were somewhat awkward, like cookie-cut biscuits. But it was that awkwardness that made them so adorable.
This fabric is woven with thick threads, and while the color and appearance are elegant, it is also very strong and can be used quite ruggedly. I think that over time, you will grow to love it in a way that is different from its appearance. Homemade sweets may be clumsy, but they feel simple and adorable. The name of this bag comes from that idea.
You can't eat it, though.

CAHARM POINT

A bag charm with a mysterious motif that is strange, indescribable, yet somehow cute. Crafted from cotton canvas with a pigment print, the charm features embroidered eyes and stripes, then filled with padding to create the shape of a small stuffed animal. Decorated with acrylic string and ribbon, it exudes a unique, handcrafted charm. It's the perfect charm to accentuate your favorite bag.

This was my first time making a charm, so I was a bit confused about what a charm even was. With that in mind, I researched the meaning of charms before designing them.
It means "something that attracts people," "a small ornament," and "a talisman."
It's like a combination of a charm and a lucky item, how wonderful! I got excited about the design and decided to use a printed fabric that I had specially designed. The combination of a material that is close to us, textile, and an appearance that is full of a craft-like, handmade feel makes it like a companion you'll want to take with you wherever you go. Take it with you to many places as your lucky item.
