Beauté Prestige International (BPI), a subsidiary of the Shiseido Group that designs, manufactures, and sells fragrances, has signed an exclusive 15-year agreement with the French fashion brand Zadig et Voltaire. Going forward, BPI will be responsible for the design, manufacture, and sale of Zadig et Voltaire fragrances. BPI President Remy Gomez commented, "I believe that BPI's accumulated know-how will fully bring out the appeal of Zadig et Voltaire, which has the power to move people's hearts and great potential in the world of perfumery." Zadig et Voltaire President Thierry Gillier added, "I wholeheartedly welcome BPI's decision to take on the fragrance development. I am confident that the strengths, talents, and passion of both companies will enable us to create a unique worldview." Zadig & Voltaire was founded by Gillier in 1997 and its main lines are "Zadig & Voltaire" and "Zadig & Voltaire Deluxe." It started with women's wear, expanded to men's in 2004 and children's in 2006, and is sold in approximately 300 stores worldwide, including Japan. The fragrances currently on sale are "FRAGRANCE TOME 1 FOR HIM" for men and "FRAGRANCE TOME 1 FOR HER" for women. A new store will open this summer in the former Anteprima building on Antique Street in Aoyama, Tokyo. BPI, established in 1990, is a wholly owned French subsidiary of Shiseido that designs, manufactures, and sells fragrances. The company distributes fragrances bearing designer names such as "ISSEY MIYAKE" (1992), "Jean Paul GAULTIER" (1993), and "Narciso Rodriguez" (2003) in 112 countries around the world, and is planning to release "Azzedine Alaia" in 2015. In addition to wholesaling fragrances designed and manufactured in-house, the company also operates a consignment sales business in the United States and elsewhere for fragrances from "HERMES" (2010), "Ferragamo" (2013), and "BURBERRY" (2013).
