Mar 17, 2016

Lemon Life's design school, "Lemon Life Juku," led by art director Tetsuya Chihara, will open in Kyoto on April 2nd.

Lemon Life is headed by Tetsuya Chihara, who has worked on a wide range of designs, including CD jackets, magazines, films, and advertisements. Based on the concepts of "ultra-practical" and "combining the creative talents of Kyoto and Tokyo," the newly launched "Lemon Life Juku" will feature 14 leading creators as guest lecturers, fostering the ability to solve real social issues through design. Participants are open to anyone, regardless of age or occupation, including working adults and students.
The course is divided into two parts: the first hour, "Lemon Session," and the second hour, "Life Session," for a total of 15 sessions. "Lemon Session" is a hands-on program for a small group of elite students to solve PR challenges for real-life Nishijin textiles through design. It will cover six months of hands-on work, from designing Nishijin textiles to holding an exhibition. The "Life Sessions" will feature open lectures by a number of distinguished guests, including actress and photographer Miyuki Matsuda and Leslie Kee, illustrator Ed Tsuwaki, Numero TOKYO editor-in-chief Kyoko Tanaka, Smiles CEO Masamichi Toyama, art director Hiroshi Ito, designer Noritaka Tatehana, and DJ and singer Mademoiselle Yulia. The dates are April 2nd, 9th, and 23rd; May 14th, 21st, and 28th; June 4th, 11th, and 25th; July 2nd, 9th, and 30th; and August 6th, 20th, and 27th.
