Hedi's Saint Laurent space opens at Dover Street Market Ginza, Tokyo's first

Feb 14, 2013
The Saint Laurent section at Dover Street Market Ginza COMME des GARÇONS (DSM Ginza) reopened on February 10th. The newly renovated section features hanger and display fixtures tailored to the DSM Ginza space. The fixtures were designed by creative director Hedi Slimane. Inspired by Art Deco and Bauhaus design styles, they feature a geometric grid structure. The fixtures are made of polished stainless steel for a minimalist look. The men's and women's pre-collections are currently on display. Since last year, Saint Laurent has been gradually renovating its stores around the world in line with Hedi's concept. In Japan, Hankyu Men's Osaka reopened on February 1st. Hedi Slimane's first collection was released one day earlier than other stores, drawing a line of approximately 100 people. It proved so popular that admission was restricted.

Hedi, the last disciple of the late Yves Saint Laurent, became the designer of "Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche Homme" in 1997. He then worked on Dior Homme from 2000 to 2007, and after a five-year hiatus, returned to the fashion world as creative director of Saint Laurent for the Spring/Summer 2013 season. He changed the brand name to "Saint Laurent" and has not only designed the collections, but also personally directed the stores and shot the campaign visuals, establishing the brand's unique worldview.
