HYKE's SS15 collection draws inspiration from sports and traditional style. Each season, the brand takes inspiration from styles and vintage clothing that they find appealing, then reconstructs them.
One of the defining features of this collection is the variety and reinterpretation of sweatshirts. At first glance, the collection features basic yet innovative pieces, such as a zip-up parka with enlarged triangular sweatbands and a thick, bonded material that gives it a crisp, sweatshirt-like feel.
Another distinctive feature is the python print. This season, as HYKE reinterprets sportswear from the 1950s to 1990s, animal prints were often incorporated, particularly in pieces from the 1980s and 1990s, and it's a pattern that HYKE has frequently used since its predecessor, the Green era. The python pattern is also used iconicly in this season's collaboration with adidas, "adidas originals by HYKE," and in the collaboration with Mackintosh, "MACKINTOSH x HYKE."
This season, designers Hideaki Yoshihara and Yukiko Oide considered the history and design transitions of both sports and traditional styles. From there, they disassembled the materials, patterns, accessories, etc., adding HYKE's unique sensibility and reassembling them into the design. The approach has not changed since the green era.
