Mame Kurogouchi, designed by Maiko Kurogouchi, has announced its 2021 Pre-Spring Collection.

This season's inspiration came from the dialogue between modernity and the landscapes and found objects evocative of bygone days that designer Kurogouchi witnessed while traveling in Portugal. The juxtaposition of the moods captured in vintage photographs acquired during travels and photographs snapped by the designer himself embodies the overlapping of past and present, nostalgia for different cultures, and personal emotions in the clothes.

The collection's color palette is centered around various shades of blue, primarily indigo, with touches of brown and ecru, evoking memories of the earth in Portugal's cities and the nostalgia naturally evoked by the blue sky overhead and the aged wooden furniture on the terrace. These are then sublimated into elegant everyday wear crafted with oversized silhouettes and contemporary materials.

Even in the collection's core relaxed materials of denim, sweatshirts, and cut-and-sewn pieces, the brand's signature techniques and silhouettes are often used, such as delicate cutting that frames the décolleté, delicate shoulder patterns and voluminous arms, gently flaring cuffs, and intricate embroidery. The beautiful, intricately crafted items are truly captivating this season as well. It's no exaggeration to say that this is high-quality everyday wear that is sure to turn everyday life into a "special moment."

Also making its debut is the brand's first denim jacket. It features a vintage-inspired finish, a voluminous silhouette, and elegant cord embroidery adorning the collar and pockets. It comes paired with pants or a skirt.
The popular and iconic PVC bag "Transparent Sculpture" series now includes a standard model in a compact size designed for everyday use. Be sure to check this out too.
This collection will be available in advance at Mame Kurogouchi retailers nationwide from mid-December. It will be available at the company's directly managed store "Mame Kurogouchi Hanegi" and the official online store from January 2021.
