Kinashi Cycle is back at Isetan Men's! Collaboration caps with 16 companies are sure to sell out

Mar 29, 2017

A pop-up shop, a collaboration between Kinashi Cycle, the family bicycle shop of comedian Noritake Kinashi, and Isetan Shinjuku, opened on March 29th in the Isetan Shinjuku Men's Promotion section on the first floor. The pop-up shop, which concluded in February 2016 to great acclaim, is now back in its second installment, selling caps in collaboration with 16 companies and brands that are also popular at Kinashi Cycle. To commemorate the opening day, Noritake Kinashi, who rushed to the venue, commented on the pop-up shop, "Once again, we were able to collaborate with many companies and brands, including my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Hawaii, George Tokoro's Setagaya Base, and Isetan. We paid particular attention to the design of the shop this time, creating a Showa-era feel with the vinyl curtains at the entrance and the vending machines. It'll be fun to be able to buy a cap from the vending machine and wear it right away!" Kinashi's top recommendation is a cap (5,000 yen) bearing the name of his father, Kinashi Sakuzo, the owner of Kinashi Cycle. "This one has the strongest impact... I wonder what customers are thinking when they buy it and wear it. By the way, I didn't get my dad's permission (laughs)." The store is stocked with Kinashi Cycle x Isetan caps, as well as collaboration caps with Setagaya Base, Kicks Hawaii, Audi, Billabong, Stylist Japan, VANS, Gamba Conno, FILA, and Cabando Zucca (5,000 yen each). When asked about recommended outfits for caps, he replied, "I wonder what the older generation is thinking when they wear caps. My dad always wears caps, but I wonder if it's because they're dazzling or stylish (laughs). My next goal is to broaden the range of outfits so that older generations can wear caps with confidence."

Before the store opened, about 500 fans had flocked in, forming a long line. Kinashi signed autographs all over the pop-up shop, so be sure to try and find one when you visit. The store will be open until April 11th.
