JR East Station Retailing will once again support the "FELISSIMO HAPPY TOYS PROJECT," promoted by mail-order company Felissimo, through the station's commercial facility, Ecute.
From December 1st to 25th, a 4.6-meter-tall tree featuring a stuffed toy of this year's mascot, "RUN Makun," will be displayed inside Nippori Station. An opening ceremony will be held at 1:30 PM on the first day, featuring guest entertainer Kae Okuyama. Following this, at 2:15 PM, Okuyama will host a stuffed toy workshop. Other stuffed toy making classes will also be held at Ecute locations in Nippori, Omiya, Shinagawa, and Tachikawa, as well as at March Ecute Kanda Manseibashi. Plush toy making kits will also be sold at the shops in Ecute, as well as within Nippori Station with the cooperation of Nippori Fabric Town. The stuffed toys that are made can be brought in or mailed to Ecute Nippori and will be given as gifts to children in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, which is a sister city of Arakawa Ward and is accepting disaster victims from Fukushima Prefecture.
The Felissimo Happy Toys Project is a social contribution activity that uses clothes and fabrics lying around closets to make stuffed toys and give them as gifts to children around the world. Since its launch in 1997, more than 47,000 stuffed toys have been made to date, and after exhibitions they have been donated to facilities, hospitals, and refugee camps both in Japan and overseas.
