France's oldest candle manufacturer, Cire Trudon, introduces a new series: the Fragrance Orchestra trilogy

Jun 6, 2017

CIRE TRUDON, France's oldest candle manufacturer, is releasing a new series, "Les Belles Matieres."

The new series, which makes the most of the quality of the ingredients and creates modern fragrances, is an orchestra-like collection of floral, fruity, and woody scented candles. The first edition was created by Emilie Bouge, known as the perfumer for ROBERTET, a long-established manufacturer of natural fragrances.

"Madurai" (12,000 yen) is a floral fragrance with a top note of exotic ylang-ylang, leading to Indian sambac jasmine and rich benzoin. The jasmine, picked at sunrise, spreads subtly and brilliantly. "Reggio" (¥12,000) offers gentle fruity notes of Calabrian mandarin, grapefruit, and mimosa. The fresh citrus evokes the blessings of the southern Italian sun. "Tadine" (¥12,000) is based on sandalwood from New Caledonia. The woody notes of spicy cardamom and sensual guaiac wood create a deep, elegant fragrance. Sandalwood is said to soothe anxiety, and continues to be a popular Asian fragrance today.

All candles are made using only carefully selected natural ingredients, including vegetable wax and beeswax. They feature 100% cotton wicks and a burn time of 55 to 65 hours. The night-blue glass containers are handcrafted by Italian artisans and feature the Louis XIV coat of arms, a testament to the candles' royal warrant. The collection will be available for pre-sale on June 7th at Bed Bath Decor on the 5th floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku, and will be available at participating stores nationwide from July 7th.
