Hosted by TOYOTA GROUP, the immersive art museum THE MOVEUM YOKOHAMA by TOYOTA GROUP will be held for a limited period from December 20, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
The venue is Warehouse No.4 at Yamashita Pier in Yokohama, where a vast space of approximately 1,800 square meters is transformed into an environment that invites visitors to step inside the artwork itself, surrounded by sound and moving image.

The exhibition proposes an art experience that dissolves the boundary between viewer and work. Through monumental projections and spatial sound design, visitors are no longer passive spectators but become participants within the narrative. The act of viewing art shifts from simply “looking” to feeling and re-experiencing, offering a redefinition of how art can be encountered today.

Two Immersive Works Exploring Fin-de-Siècle Vienna
The opening program centers on two immersive works inspired by the art of fin-de-siècle Vienna.

■ Gustav Klimt: The Golden Age
Drawing from the works of Gustav Klimt, this piece reinterprets essential human themes—life, love, gold, and death—through a fusion of music, color, movement, and spatial design.
Five interwoven chapters resonate like a symphony, moving beyond intellectual understanding to speak directly to intuition and emotion. Immersed in luminous, gold-infused imagery, visitors experience a sensation akin to entering Klimt’s own perspective.

■ Egon Schiele: In the Shadow of Gold
A special section dedicated to Egon Schiele explores the anxiety and solitude of Vienna at the turn of the century. Through Schiele’s tense lines and emotionally charged forms, the exhibition traces an expressionist worldview while revealing the aesthetic lineage that connects his work to Klimt’s legacy.

Spatial Design for Deeper Immersion
Behind the back wall lies the Mirror Room, a space designed for a more intimate immersive experience. Reflections from mirrored surfaces merge the projected imagery with the viewer’s own presence, guiding the experience toward a more introspective dimension.
In addition, throughout the exhibition period, the exterior of THE MOVEUM YOKOHAMA is illuminated daily from 4:30 p.m. to midnight by French designer, artist, sculptor, and “choreographer of light” Matteo Messervy. The nighttime illumination offers a strikingly different expression from the daytime museum experience and is a highlight in its own right.

Traveling the World Through Sound: “LISTEN. ONE MOMENT”
Presented as part of the STUDIO PROGRAM, LISTEN. ONE MOMENT is the latest series from the long-running project “LISTEN.”
Over a decade, the project has traveled across approximately 26 countries, documenting precious sounds meant to be carried into the future. From the rhythms of nomadic horse cultures to the melodies of wandering minstrels, communal songs, and dances passed down through generations, the work traces cultural pathways shaped by sound. Immersing oneself in its audio-visual landscape invites a journey across time and geography.

Beyond Viewing, Into Sensibility
What left the strongest impression during the preview was how the body responds before the mind has time to analyze. Vast projections and enveloping sound subtly alter one’s breathing rhythm, and before long, the viewer is absorbed into the interior of the work itself.
Whether wrapped in Klimt’s golden glow or standing within Schiele’s tense, emotionally charged world, the experience transcends art-historical knowledge and becomes about emotion—what is felt, here and now.
In LISTEN. ONE MOMENT, sound often reaches the heart before the eye. Cultural memories emerge through audio, transforming the act of viewing into a moment of quiet reflection. The location—Yamashita Pier, removed from everyday urban rhythms—enhances the sensation that time spent here is itself a kind of journey.
THE MOVEUM YOKOHAMA by TOYOTA GROUP is not merely an immersive exhibition. It is a place where immersion opens the senses and invites visitors to engage calmly with their own perceptions. Whether deeply familiar with art or encountering it anew, visitors can approach the experience at their own distance—this openness is perhaps the exhibition’s greatest strength.
