
Former AKB48 member Mariko Shinoda was born on March 11, 1986, in Fukuoka Prefecture.
She was unsuccessful in the first wave of AKB48 auditions in 2005. She then began working as a staff member at the theater's "48s Cafe." In January 2006, she was approached by Yasushi Akimoto and became a regular member.
She has consistently placed highly in the Single Senbatsu General Election, which has been held since 2009. She won the "Single Senbatsu Janken Tournament" in 2011, and her single "Uekara Mariko," in which she served as center, became a million-seller.
Leveraging her tall and slender figure, she has been an exclusive model for the fashion magazine "MORE" since November 2008. She also launched the fashion brand "ricori" in December 2012, debuting as producer and designer with the 2013 Spring/Summer collection. She also previously produced the wedding dress brand "Love Mary." She graduated from AKB48 in July 2013 and is currently active as a talent and actress.
