From models to beauty. Mariko Shinoda to become a fashion idol after graduating from AKB48?

Jul 19, 2013

Mariko Shinoda, who will graduate from the idol group AKB48 this month, is strengthening her presence as a fashion icon.

She has been an exclusive model for Shueisha's fashion magazine "MORE" since 2009, and in 2011 published the mook "MARIKO MAGAZINE," of which she served as editor-in-chief. Last summer, she was photographed by fashion photographer Ryu Tamagawa for Parco's large-scale photobook series "IQUEEN."

She launched her own brand, "ricori," in the 2013 Spring/Summer season. It is available at Lumine Est Shinjuku and ZOZOTOWN. She also produces the wedding dress brand "Love Mary."

Furthermore, in June of this year, she was appointed as the image character for the hair care brand "HAIRGRANCE," marking her entry into the beauty industry. A campaign is being held from the 19th onwards at the Hair Glance online store, where if you purchase a product you will receive a free autographed poster of Shinoda, which will run until August 20th.

The graduation ceremony will be held at the Fukuoka Dome on July 21st, followed by a graduation performance at the AKB48 Theater in Akihabara, the group's home base, on the 22nd.
