LAQA&CO., the New York cosmetics brand that combines art and beauty, arrives in Japan

Mar 18, 2014

New York-based cosmetics brand LAQA&CO. is making its Japan debut. Its products will be available at Ron Herman stores on April 3rd, followed by nationwide distribution at American Rag Cie and Ships. LAQA&CO. offers nail polish, lip pencils, and other coloring tools. Founded by New York-based women Georgina and Nicole, the brand debuted in December 2010 at the Parisian select shop Colette. The line offers items tailored to the New Yorker lifestyle, where fashion, parties, fun, art, and entertainment are all part of the experience. The nail polishes, available in 16 colors (9ml each, ¥1,900 each), offer vibrant color even without a base coat and are toluene-, formaldehyde-, DHP-, and paraben-free. This year's color palette features primitive reds reminiscent of Mexico, the land of earth and sun. The remover pads (32 sheets/900 yen) are enough to remove all polish from one hand. The nail polish pen (5ml/2,200 yen) is a pen-type top coat. The Fat Lip Color Balm (4g/2,500 yen each), available in five colors, is lip pencil-shaped for easy application directly to the lips. A single bottle delivers the same shine and color as lipstick or gloss. The packaging also features artwork that can be enjoyed as an art piece. In order to introduce the work of emerging young artists to a wider audience on a global scale, the brand commissions graphic art from artists. The official website also features a different artist each month. RIGURU JAPAN is the exclusive distributor in Japan.
